The groundwater of British Columbia is not protected against exploitation and/or depletion. We believe that public access to water is a right. We believe water is not a resource for extraction, but a commons to be held in trust for future generations. We believe that current legislation risks the future of our natural environment and our ability to live within it.
We are here exercising our right to oppose the privatization of our waters. We request all levels of government
- to protect us and our water
- to discontinue the use of environmentally damaging consumption of water (i.e.: bottled water)
- to engage in planning practices that reflect all available scientific information, with special consideration given to climate change
We, the undersigned, call for a moratorium on all for-profit groundwater exploitation. |
